In the questionary number 1, I have 2 mistakes: - I haven't got idea the past simple os steal is stole( In the sentence 3:The thief sneaked into the house, stole the jewels and left without a trace.) -I doesn't know the past continuous of lie is lying(In the sentence 5:While we were doing a sight-seeing tour, our friends were lying on the beach.) In the questionary number 2, I have a doubt In the sentence: ''The phone rang when I was sitting on the toilet.'', the reviser say it is correct but... It has ''When'' and the past continuous ... It's no possible! And I've only this mistake.. or not mistake!
Hello Cynthia. "WHILE" can only be used with the continuous, and "WHEN" is mostly used with the simple, but the fact is that "WHEN" is sometimes used with the continuous. It's the same in Spanish; you can say "... mientras estaba sentado..." o "...cuando estaba sentado...".
In any case, you don't have to worry about this little mistake.
